Wood Group Production Technology and Gemini Solutions Collaborate on Prophet

Wood Group Production Technology and Gemini Solutions have developed a new software interface – Prophet, linking Wood Group’s permanent reservoir monitoring systems and Gemini’s PC-based reservoir simulator package Merlin and Apprentice.

Gemini Solutions also has a working with Promore, a downhole pressure gauge company that offers low cost, accurate gauge solutions.

Reservoir monitoring systems provide a means to gather real-time reservoir information, which is used for modeling field development and production optimization.  The Merlin and Apprentice package provides reservoir characterization; geostatistical gridding and full featured black-oil reservoir simulation, running in the Windows environment.

Prophet, the industry’s first data management tool to link real-time downhole information gathering to a reservoir simulator, promises to revolutionize the way in which these data are used in reservoir simulation. The procedure of data gathering, sorting, filtering and importing is automated within Prophet, which is then used to begin the reservoir modeling process.  The true value of the reservoir data is exploited by enabling the operator to simulate his reservoir efficiently, leading to better, more timely decisions through the use of Merlin and Apprentice.
