| After returning from the United States Army Security Agency and subsequently graduating in 1975, Dr. Calvert was a consultant in subsurface waste disposal and numerical modeling. He developed, maintained and used simulation models for medical, aerospace and subsurface disposal. From 1979 through 1981, Dr. Calvert was a member of the research faculty at the University of Texas, where he performed research for a variety of flow modeling applications. From 1981 through 1996, Dr. Calvert worked for Getty Oil Co. (now Texaco) in a variety of reservoir engineering and simulation positions. From 1990 through 1993, he started and supervised a reservoir simulation group in Indonesia. Dr. Calvert justified, designed, and oversaw the installation of the first super computer system in Sumatra, Indonesia. In 1993, Dr. Calvert returned to Texaco’s Houston office. From his various positions, Dr. Calvert has over 20 years experience developing, maintaining and using simulation models. He is experienced in thermal and black oil modeling. Dr. Calvert’s experience includes the Kern River steamflood, more than 30 fields in Indonesia, 12 fields in the Russia, and numerous black oil projects in the U.S., South America, S.E. Asia, and Africa. These projects include both shallow and deep targets, sandstone and carbonate reservoirs, and fractured and friable systems. Dr. Calvert has written manuals for and taught numerous simulation courses and developed the pre- and post- processing interface, including all graphics, for the Merlin reservoir simulator. On Jan. 1,1997, Dr. Calvert formed Gemini Solutions, Inc. with Dr. Jim Buchwalter. At GSI, Dr. Calvert supports and enhances the reservoir characterization and simulation models, teaches simulation applications courses and performs consulting simulation studies for client companies. Dr. Calvert has written technical papers and made presentations on reservoir simulation. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. |
