Our Various Software Training Schools
General: Gemini's office is located at 11301 Richmond, Suite K110 just west of the intersection of Richmond and Wilcrest. Hotel reservations for out of town guests can be made at either the Adams Mark (713) 978-7400 or the Westchase Hilton (713) 974-1000. Both hotels are at the corner of Briarpark and Westheimer, two blocks east of the intersection of Westheimer and Beltway 8. Schools start at 8 AM and finish at 5 PM. Lunch will be provided. Each student should plan to bring a portable PC to class. A $300 computer fee is charged for those that do not use their own portable PC (must be 233 MHz or better with a CD-ROM). Space is limited so sign up ASAP. Maximum school size is seven in our shop. For any training dates and locations please check out our Coming Events. Courses are open to personnel from all companies and will be taught at either Gemini's office in Houston or a local training center. Courses can also be taught for a flat fee in a client’s office. Contact us for current price information. Merlin & Apprentice Basic School This will be a practical hands on 4 day school on the use of simulation to solve real world problems rather than a school on how simulators work. Students should be familiar with reservoir engineering data, but need not have a background in simulation to attend. Graduating students will be able to build a variety of single and full field well models. These models will include everything from new prospect evaluations and history matching to full-field modeling of vertical and horizontal wells. Apprentice instruction will include a demonstration of basic features. School cost is $1,595 for registered Merlin/Apprentice users and $1,695 for all others. A detailed course outline can be viewed here or you can sign up here. Merlin/Apprentice Advanced School 1 The 3 day school is a continuation of Part 1. Students should have either attended Part 1, or had several months of hands on experience building models with the GSI products. Students completing the course will build multiple reservoir simulation models from scratch during the school as well as learn digitizing, mapping and simple geostatistics using Apprentice. Advanced Merlin features such a regions, building aquifers, grid refinement. gas condensate and volatile oil modeling, solution techniques, and tubing curve /flow line integration are among the topics covered in this school. Graduating students will be functional in many of the advanced features in Merlin, Apprentice and Avalon. A demonstration of the Prophet data filtering interface can also be performed for interested parties. School cost is $1,195 for registered Merlin/Apprentice users and $1,295 for all others. A more detailed course description can be viewed here or you can sign up here. Merlin/Apprentice Advanced School 2 The 3 day school is a continuation of Parts 1 and 2. Students should have either attended Parts 1 and 2, or completed several full field simulation project with the GSI products. Students will learn all of the new features integrated within our products over the previous 12 months, and cover a variety of advanced features in all of our products. Advanced Merlin features such our regions calculator, incorporating meaningful statistics, well test analysis, horizontal well layering in full field coning situations, hydraulic fracture modeling, and integration/analysis of continuous down hole pressure data are covered in this school. Advanced Apprentice features include integrating well surveys, perforation intervals, import data formats from other packages, and grid to grid operations are included. Advanced Avalon features including sub-sea flow line, tubing, and riser integration, and gas lift applications. A demonstration of features covered in Part 2 of the Basic School will also be included as a refresher for all students. Additionally students are encouraged to bring past and present problems to class, and a half day work session will be included for these problems. Graduating students will be functional in all of the features in Merlin, Apprentice and Avalon. A Prophet data filtering problem is included for interested parties. School cost is $1,195 for registered Merlin/Apprentice users and $1,295 for all others. A more detailed course description can be viewed here or you can sign up here. Improved Reserves Updating Using Reservoir Simulation This will be a practical hands on 2 day school examining using the Merlin simulator to replace decline curve analysis, analogy, and material balance techniques currently used for reserves updates. Students should be familiar with reservoir engineering data, but need not have a background in simulation to attend. The attendees learn to build practical models in minutes, and use these models to perform much higher quality evaluations than traditional techniques that not integrate all the reservoir parameters. These effects include geology, well drilling and completion techniques, fluid properties, tubular constraints, and boundary and offset effects. Improved reserves result from analysis of coning, well spacing and completion technology , secondary recovery, tubular, and gas lift issues. School cost is $895 for registered Merlin/Apprentice users and $995 for all others. A more detailed course description can be viewed here or you can sign up here. |
