Oil & Gas Reservoir Case Studies

Printer-friendly version

Below are oil & gas reservoir case studies that have been prepared by Gemini SI engineers. These case studies are examples of Gemini's services in finding solutions for our clients. We will add to these case studies from time-to-time so do stop back to learn more about Gemini's oil & gas reservoir consulting services and reservoir modeling and simulation software.

Challenge:  Maximmize recovery and present the net value of reserves for this reservoir while minimizing water coning.  We also must understand the effect of an uncertain aquifer influx.

Proposed Solution:  Use early production pressure information to understand aquifer size. Investigate producing the vertical wells by varying different factors such as:  target producing rates, number of wells, limiting compression pressures and tubing sizes.

Challenge:  The first well was completed and sanded up within 30 days.  When sand production commenced, there was a 125 psi drawdown, which was very sensitive to rate and reservoir pressure.  The gas rate must be maintained at or below 10 MMCF/D to have drawdown less than 75 psi and minimize sand influx .

Proposed Solution:  Have a 75 psi maximum pressure drop near well bore to prevent sand production in the future, work over first well and complete future plugback wells so that the 75 psi drawdown is maintained.
